Creative Like Our Creator
When most people hear the word “creativity,” they think of painting, drawing, designing—things you make with your hands. And while those are beautiful expressions of creativity, they’re not the whole picture.
In fact, one of the most powerful and overlooked expressions of creativity is problem solving.
Whether it's figuring out how to stretch a grocery budget, reshuffling bills to keep the lights on, brainstorming a side hustle to cover that unexpected expense, figuring out how to level up your small business, or land that promotion, creativity is needed in each situation. And here's the truth I want to shout from the rooftops:
Creativity isn’t just for artists—it’s a gift from God, woven into all of us. Yes, even you. You are creative, and that creativity is useful, needed, and sacred.
The very first thing Scripture tells us about God is that He created.
Before He spoke about holiness or justice or even love, He showed us His creativity.
Genesis opens with a God who imagines, designs, forms, and fills.
Stars.
Seas.
Sand.
Seasons.
Systems.
And then? He made us in His image.
That means creativity isn’t just a talent some people are born with—it’s a piece of His nature woven into all of us.
It’s what helps you make a meal out of pantry scraps or start a side hustle selling something you used to give away. It’s the spiritual grit that refuses to quit just because resources are tight.
The best part about all of this is that our hope is in a God who is FOR US and is infinitely creative -He never runs out of options.
I’ve seen this over and over again, in my own life and in the lives of the people I walk with: the moment when human reasoning says, “There's no way to make this work,” God shows up in a way we hadn’t considered as a possibility.
If I had a dime for every time I’ve looked at our finances and thought, “There’s no way out of this.”
But then God comes through—in a way that no spreadsheet could’ve predicted.
A refund check I forgot about.
A friend showing up with groceries.
A sudden opportunity.
An unexpected solution.
It’s wild. It’s holy. It’s so Him. And every time it happens, I’m reminded: only a God with infinite imagination could’ve pulled this off.
He’s never out of ideas. And He’s never out of provision.
I've realized that -even more than simply reflecting God’s creativity—we can ask Him for more of it too!
James 1:5 says if we need wisdom, we should ask for it—and God will give it generously. And I believe the same is true for creativity.
When we feel stuck, we can pray:
“Lord, show me a new way forward. Help me see what You see.”
And He delights to respond. He is the God who brings water from rocks, manna from the sky, and coins from the mouths of fish.
He is the God who makes a way where there is no way.
He doesn’t just want to rescue us—He wants to partner with us. To grow our faith, stretch our trust, and awaken the creativity He placed inside us.
So if you’re feeling stuck today, I want you to know—there is still hope.
Your financial situation may be hard, but it is not hopeless. You serve a God who specializes in impossible things. A God who writes stories no one else could write. A God who creates new paths when old ones are blocked.
You are not alone. And you are not empty-handed. You are made in the image of the One who imagined galaxies—and He has given you the ability to think differently, act wisely, and believe boldly.
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine...” (Ephesians 3:20)
I want to implore you -don’t just pray for more money—pray for more creativity. And then trust the Giver of every good gift to walk with you into solutions only He could design.
